Getting started
How a round works
One round, one result, for every line in every app.
The numbers#
Each line has 5 different numbers from 1 to 30, plus one bonus ball. The bonus range grows as the pool grows, so that prizes average at most 75¢ per $1 line.
| Pool size | Bonus ball range | Jackpot odds |
|---|---|---|
| $1,068,795 | 1–10 | 1 in 1,425,060 |
| $1,100,000 | 1–11 | 1 in 1,567,566 |
| $2,500,000 | 1–24 | 1 in 3,420,144 |
Always use the range your app shows for the round you’re entering.
For developers
Bonus balls = pool ÷ 106,879.50, rounded up. 106,879.50 is 0.75 × C(30,5), so prizes land on exactly 75% of sales when the pool is a whole number of steps, and a little less in between (about 68–75%). Numbers are stored as 0–255, so the range tops out at 225 balls; that caps the pool the odds can cover at about 24.05M.
The round cycle#
- Sales open.
- Sales close at the set time.
- The winning numbers are drawn.
- The results are checked.
- Claims open.
The next round can open before the last one is finished. Until its prizes are set, only Quick Pick works.
For developers
currentRound is the round on sale. settlementRound is the round being processed. Until RoundConfigured fires for the next round, its bonusMax is 0 and buyChosen reverts with ConfigurationPending. buyRandom still works.
Rules can change#
The price, closing time, number ranges and prize shares can change for future rounds. Each round keeps the rules it was set up with. At launch, every change waits 48 hours before it takes effect.
